Smoking in Closed Public Places Should Be Strictly Banned!
By Fitrah Ramadhan

Some countries, such as India and United Kingdom, have applied a strict policy which does not allow their people or citizens to smoke in public places. In fact, it is only Jakarta which has already banned smokers to light up their cigarettes in all public places. It means that almost all cities in Indonesia still explicitly allow their citizens to smoke in public places. I can say that still allowing those people to smoke in public places means Indonesian government is facilitating those mass destroyers to freely kill others who do not smoke. If the government does not make a strict policy to ban smoking in public places, it means the government agree for air pollution, higher poverty levels, higher medical expenses and  their own deaths. Therefore, this essay agrees that smoking in closed public places should be banned at all.

We have banned drugs and alcohols because it affects us so much, yet we have not done anything on smoking. As we know that any cigarette contains tar and nicotine. Unconciously, those smokers have filled their lungs with these both deadliest things. In fact, people are suffered from cancer, the numerous causes of deaths in the world, is mostly because of smoking itself. Can we imagine how dangerous smoking is? It is enough that the effects, such like cancer, just for themselves. However, there is no one who wants to accompany them to die earlier caused by a serious disease, except those who are also smokers.

By the facts above, let me drive this case into simple analogy. we can see that actually those smokers are killing themselves slowly and innocent people in their surroundig. Then, the question is will you let let someone shoot their own head using a real gun? Or will you just stay standing up in your position while you are seeing a teenager wants to jump from a high bulding? You will not totally let them do it, won’t you? As an analogy, why do we allow those smokers to kill themselves? Do not also forget that we are also dying as a side effect caused by the smoke when we are surrounded by those who is smoking. For this case, one thing that we should remember; each one of us owns our own bodies and we have the choice to place anything we choose into it. Besides, we do not even have the right to put any poison into others’ bodies.

Indeed, we are living in a free world where every human right is upholded, yet it does not really mean that we have to be the victim of people who are setting up their own death. Therefore, it give us a meaning that actually when someone is upholding their own right, they need to remember that they are restricted by other people’s right; A right to breathe and enjoy clean air without worrying of their death.

To sump up, If we still let this serious problem happen continuously, we will clearly see a big war between the people who care and who do not at all. Therefore, it is the task of the government to promptly make a substantial policy in banning their citizens smoking in public places. Meanwhile, any sollution inside of the policy like providing smoking areas in every public places will also be considered in the very first place.  Again, smoking in public places should no longer be allowed regarding everyone has a right to breath clean and fresh air, and the most important, have a lower risk of lung cancer.
